Is a freestanding coat hanger made entirely from Hydros new material 100R. The main stem and the coat hangers are both made from extruded profiles. The hangers are adjustable so the height can be adjusted to the particular use – whether it is for adults or children. Our initial idea was to create a freestanding object with a intriguing sculptural character. We also wanted to give the material itself a more non-industial apperance and texture, emphasizing how shapeable the aluminum really are. The “stem” of the coat hanger is inspired by nature and we deliberately wanted to give this a more nature-like and organic appearance. The ribs and the profile itself if the “stem” has a free shaped/hand drawn outside that creates a vertical structure with a depth and relief in the ribs themselves that treat/reflect light differently. The ribs also camouflage the slots that hold the adjustable hangers. The hangers are shaped in a more strict manner in order to contrast the “stem”. We wanted them to visually relate to leaves. The section of the main profile has an intriguing shape – that visually are associated with hand guards (paring plate) made for Japanese swords. The Tsuba is usually made out of iron or bronze, often richly decorated with a relief pattern or openwork decoration that was developed into a special art form.
